Timely Twain (2023)

An personal exploration of the words and work of Mark Twain, written by Jim Carroll, Directed by David Ossman, produced by Outcast Theatre.

 

Soundplay: New Works for Radio Theatre by Young Voices (2015 - 2016)

The Soundplay Performance group was generated out of intensive workshops at the public magnet school Paseo Academy of the Arts in Kansas City, MO. The goal of the workshops was to encourage the development of audio listening, production, and performance skills which combine voice acting with sound design, musical underscoring, and writing for the ear. Students work alone and together in small groups to create original pieces in various genres such as Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Horror, and Mystery, using voice and sound to tell the story. The group performned two years running at the National Audio Theatre Festivals as well as at the Future Stages program at the Kaufman Center for the Performing arts.


A Thousand Clowns by Herb Gardner (2006)

Produced by Otherworld Media at Whidbey Children’s Theatre, Langley, Washington. Directed by Michael Barker, starring Barton Cole, Amy Walker, Preston Ossman, with Kent Junge, Eric Mulholland, and Halim Dunsky.

 

Frankenbean and the Monster Carrots (1996-1997)

A musical comedy, written and with lyrics by Judith Walcutt, produced by the Children’s Museum of Los Angeles, sponsored by Del Monte. This three-character show toured museums nationwide, including a run at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C..

 

It’s A Wonderful Life (2019)

Audio-driven adaptation of the Christmas classic film directed and produced by Frank Capra. Produced in surround-sound with a cast of fifty, for Whidbey Island Center for the Arts.

Mark Time Awards (2016 - 2018)

Live awards and theatre production at the National Audio Theatre Festivals, Kansas City, MO. Honoring the best in audio theatre in the genres of Sci-Fi, Horror, and Fantasy and presenting a live performance demonstration at the festival, with the awards presentations. Written and directed by Judith Walcutt, Performed and hosted by David Ossman.

International Mystery Writers Festival: Discovering New Mysteries (2007 - 2011)

Under the auspices of RiverPark Center, Owensboro, KY, Ossman and Walcutt adapted, directed, and produced a total of 80 performances of 24 different works adapted from film, stage, or print for live radio theatre performances including works by Ray Bradbury, Mary Higgins Clark, Rupert Holmes, Sam Bobrick, Robert S. Levinson, Bill Kerby, and others.

 

“Radio Noir” and “Summer Radio Festival” (1997)

Four “live radio” events, with detective stories featuring Philip Marlowe, Sam Spade, Mr. and Mrs. North and premiering Walcutt/Ossman’s original, “Food Crimes: The Adventures of Mimsy Borogrove.” Also, “George Tirebiter’s Radio Follies,” “New Mexican Overdrive,” Ring Lardner’s “Haircut,” Edith Wharton’s “Xingu” and “Additional Dialogue: Tales From Hollywood.”

 

The Otherworld Balloon (2018)

Live staged “audio theatre” performance at the Truman Forum Auditorium, Kansas City Public Library with the National Audio Theatre Festivals, “A is for Adventure” is a pilot for an ongoing series, audio-phonically exploring the stories, literature, and re-sources available through the public library.

 

Agatha Christie’s BBC Murders (2009 - 2013)

Adapting four lost radio plays Christie wrote for the BBC between 1934 and 1956 and drawing upon her autobiography, Writer-Directors David Ossman and Judith Walcutt developed a fully-staged play using 360 degree surround-sound technology and a unique use of spacial design and period costuming. Produced first at the Discovering New Mysteries Festival at the RiverPark Center, Owensboro, KY and then had a limited national tour, produced by Zev Buffman.

Alice Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll (2006)

Adapted for stage and directed by David Ossman for Whidbey Children’s Theatre’s Third Street Players.

love is a place : an e. e. cummings cabaret
(1996)

The “autobiography” of America’s great modern poet from his childhood in Cambridge to his celebrity as a writer and artist. Told in cummings’ poetry, letters, essays and self-interviews by three actors with a musical score by Little Jack Melody and His Young Turks. David Ossman’s original BBC drama adapted to the stage.
